Theo Gonzalves: Music for Celine (2025)

This album compiles music I wrote for four of Celine Parreñas Shimizu’s films: Birthright (2009), The Celine Archive (2020), Eighty Years Later (2022), and So To Speak (2024). The release coincides with the premiere of her latest film at the San Francisco Independent Film Festival. Celine first asked me to compose music for her short film, Her Uprooting Plants Her in 1995. Others followed, including Super Flip (1997), and The Fact of Asian Women (2004). Here’s to three decades of friendship and art-making.
